Consumers can buy coal for home use from companies such as Blaschak Coal Corporation in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, and Wilson Coal & Supply in Sparta, New Jersey, as of April 2015. Blaschak sells anthracite coal and offers front-door delivery through its dealers nationwide. Wilson offers pick-up and delivery service.

Wilson and Blaschak accept phone and email orders for coal purchases. Blaschak delivers 40-pound bags, and Wilson delivers 1-ton stockings and 40 or 50-pound bags either individually or in 1-ton pallets. When burning coal, a customer must properly ventilate the space to produce a clean fire and efficient heating. As a safety measure, customers who burn coal at home should install carbon monoxide detectors.
