Can cheetahs climb trees?

Cheetahs are generally unable to climb trees. Cheetahs' claws are semi-retractable and blunt in comparison to those of other cats. As the fastest land animal in the world, cheetahs' claws are better adapted for running at high speeds due to the traction they provide on the ground.

A cheetah's nostrils, lungs and heart are enlarged to accommodate more oxygen for short bursts of extremely high-intensity activity. The cheetah's long tail provides better balance during pursuit. Capable of reaching nearly 60 inches in body length and weighing up to 160 pounds, the cheetah is the smallest of the big cats. Unlike the other big cats, cheetahs are unable to roar.
