It's currently unclear if cinnamon is a beneficial diabetes treatment. The American Diabetes Association does not advocate cinnamon as a valid treatment, but research findings have been mixed, according to WebMD.
A handful of small studies have shown that cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar levels by lowering insulin resistance. Subjects in one study had 18 percent lower cholesterol and 24 percent lower blood sugar levels after using 1 to 6 grams of cinnamon daily for 40 days, while other studies did not report any changes, according to WebMD. A 2012 review on several studies linked cinnamon use with improved levels of glycemic control, according to Mayo Clinic.
