Flowmaster provides a comparison chart of its mufflers in the Street Mufflers section of its website. The chart shows mufflers within a range of exterior sound levels from aggressive to mild and indicates which muffler can be used with which vehicle type, including trucks, SUVs and street rods.

Flowmaster's street muffler diagram also shows whether a particular muffler uses delta flow or laminar flow, two exhaust-venting technologies developed by the company. Another designation, cool shell technology, identifies mufflers with reduced exterior heat.
