The two major credit bureaus, Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada, can be contacted via phone, according to the Office of Consumer Affairs in Canada. Equifax Canada can be reached at 800-465-7166, and TransUnion Canada can be reached at 866-525-0262 or 877-713-3393 for Quebec residents.
The Office of Consumer Affairs in Canada states that Canada's credit rating systems work by assigning a number value of one to nine for each account. A rating of one is given to consumers who pay their bills within 30 days of the due date. Ratings of nine are assigned to those who have filed a consumer debt repayment proposal.
