Can crickets damage my home?

Crickets are not a significant source of damage to homes but can damage fabric and paper products within the home, state Jeffrey Hahn and Mark Ascerno of the University of Minnesota Extension. Large numbers of crickets can cause extensive damage to these products, though damage from one cricket is minimal.
Crickets tend to enter the home through cracks or gaps in doors or windows, claim the University of Minnesota Extension researchers. Caulking these cracks and gaps can deny crickets entrance to the home. Other measures such as clipping grass and removing debris around the foundation of the home are also effective deterrents.
