The specific cause of high blood pressure is unknown as of 2015; however, dehydration is not one of the conditions that cause hypertension, reports WebMD. Several factors that contribute to high blood pressure include chronic kidney disease, genetics, obesity, older age, smoking, stress, and too much salt or alcohol.
Dehydration occurs when the body loses more water than it is taking in. Dehydration can create an imbalance in the body leading to side effects such as confusion, decreased urination, dizziness, dry mouth, fainting, heart palpitations, increased thirst and weakness. Severe cases of dehydration can result in death, according to WebMD.
