Where can you dock a floating home?

In the United States, floating homes are typically allowed to moor at slips that lie adjacent to docks for traditional boats and ships when on a moving body of water such as a river or bay. Floating homes are also found on contained lakes.
Floating homes are severely restricted due to their construction, according to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Without an engine or other means of movement and a design that does not make the home a sea-worthy vessel, floating homes are permanently moored to a dock and need to attach to public utilities for electricity and running water.
