Can dogs be bathed after they have been spayed?

Owners should wait at least 2 weeks before giving a dog a bath after it has been spayed or after any type of invasive surgery according to the Spay/Neuter Project of Los Angeles. This is generally how long it takes for the incision to heal. If the wound doesn't looked healed after 14 days, wait to bathe the dog or use a soapless shampoo for animals.
When using a soapless shampoo, wipes or a pet cleaner, be sure to avoid the incision area for several weeks. It is important to allow the area to heal completely before causing any undue stress to the animal. Some shampoos may also cause skin near the incision to become irritated.
