Some human antibiotics are safe for dogs. However, antibiotics prescribed to the dog are the only medications that they should be given, according to Fun Times Guide.
Dogs can take many medications that humans take, but the dosages are different. A dog's weight and breed plays a part in how much it should receive. A person should only give a dog medication that a vet recommends. Just because there are antibiotics at home does not mean they should be given to an animal. Also, prescriptions of antibiotics should be finished in their entirety for them to be effective. Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Clavamox and Otomox are said to be safe for the treatment of illnesses in dogs.
