Can you donate a pickup truck to charity?

A number of non-profit and charitable organizations accept vehicles, including pick-up trucks, as donations. In most cases, after arranging the donation, the organization or a dealer acting on its behalf sells the donated vehicle in order to raise funds.

Individuals interested in donating a vehicle have their choice of charitable organizations to support. Examples of organizations that accept vehicle donations are the National Kidney Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and the American Cancer Society. It is recommended that individuals donate directly to a 501(c)(3) organization, which are the only organizations that can provide a legitimate tax deduction in return for the donation.
