Where can you donate used appliances?

Three national charities that accept used appliance donations are The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and the American Council of the Blind. These charities operate resale shops that sell donated items at low prices and use the proceeds for their charitable work.

Habitat for Humanity also accepts used appliances and either resells them through its retail stores or uses them in homes it restores for the needy. In addition, community churches often hold rummage sales and may accept donated appliances. Prior to taking an appliance to any of these organizations, it is recommended to call ahead to ensure the charity can accept it and to ask if the charity offers a pick-up service.
