Can a donkey mate with a monkey?

Donkeys and monkeys do not share enough genetic similarities to inseminate one another, much less to bring a healthy offspring to term. Animals typically cross-breed only within very tight genetic parameters, such as when different types of equine like horses and wild asses mate to produce mules.

The offspring of interspecies pairings are not often fertile, and even when they are, they most often breed back into one of the species that produced them in the first place. This means they do not often have viability as an independent species.

Donkeys are equines while monkeys are primates. This makes them too genetically different to mate or court and makes it very unlikely that they would associate at all.
