Can I drive my car with a blown head gasket?

A car with a blown head gasket can be driven, but it is not recommended. Blown head gaskets are caused when an engine overheats, and if a car is driven with a consistent overheating problem, it leads to eventual engine failure.
A head gasket is used to seal engine blocks to their cylinder heads, and any damage to this gasket should not be overlooked. When high heat damages the gasket, the gasket will fail and the car will no longer be able to retain pressure in the cooling system, causing engine overheating.
It is not recommended to drive the vehicle with a damaged gasket because the engine will not work well and the extra amount of stress could cause a cracked block and lead to complete engine failure.Related Articles
