One way of getting a free annual credit report from Equifax involves going to the AnnualCreditReport.com website, requesting a free credit report and then choosing receive the report Equifax from the three nationwide credit reporting companies. The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires Equifax, along with two other companies, to provide consumers with a free credit report every 12 months, notes the Federal Trade Commission.
The three credit reporting companies, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, have set up a common website where consumers can request their free annual credit reports. Consumers can also request their annual credit reports by requesting an Annual Credit Report form via a toll-free number and then sending the accomplished report by mail.
The following shows how to obtain a free annual credit report from Experian online.

- Go to the request page
- Request and fill out a form
- Choose Equifax
Use a Web browser top go to the AnnualCreditReport.com website.
Navigate to the request page by either clicking Request yours now! on the main menu or by clicking the red Request your free credit reports button on the home page.
Click on the red Request your credit reports button on the page and then fill out the electronic request form on the following page.
Click the Next button after to submit the accomplished request form. Select Equifax on the following page and then answer more questions to complete the request.
