Where can you find the fan on a refrigerator?

Most modern refrigerators have a fan, and some have two fans. If there are two fans, one is often located near the compressor to cool it while the second fan is located inside the cabinet to allow air to circulate around the coils and through the refrigerator.

The two fans work in unison to produce greater cooling, and they also aid in defrosting the refrigerator. A condenser fan is not needed if the condenser coil is placed at the rear of the refrigerator. If the condenser coil is found close to the compressor, then a fan is needed to remove the heat generated by the compressor. Without the fan, the compressor could overheat and cause a serious malfunction.
