Cooked chicken can be frozen. Many people find that they save money by keeping leftovers for future use, but this process may dry out the chicken.
To freeze cooked chicken, wrap it in plastic freezer wrap, place it in a plastic container or freezer bag or vacuum seal it to prevent freezer burn. Store it in the coldest part of the freezer. Shred or slice the chicken to speed thawing or to use frozen chicken in cooked meals without thawing it. Cooked poultry can last between 1 and 6 months in the freezer, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
