How can "Halo 1" and "Halo 2" be played on XBOX 360?

The original Xbox “Halo: Combat Evolved” and “Halo 2” game discs are playable on Xbox 360 consoles, according to Xbox Support. The Xbox 360 consoles contain backwards compatibility with select Xbox games. A full list of games that are are compatible can be found via Support.Xbox.com.

Xbox 360 consoles must have an official Xbox 360 hard drive to play original Xbox games. If games are not playing, the user might need to update the software on the Xbox 360. Users should keep in mind that original Xbox game saves and Xbox Live functionality can’t be transferred to an Xbox 360 console.
