Housing assistance for homeless veterans and their families is available through several federal programs, including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the VA Supportive Housing Program. The Veterans Affairs, or VA, Department also offers resources for education, health care, rehab and disability services for all veterans.
A veteran who is homeless or in danger of becoming homeless can contact the VA call center at 1-877-424-3838 for assistance. Trained VA specialists are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition to providing support for individuals, the VA also issues grants to support community organizations that assist homeless veterans.
