There may be a single elected commissioner to represent a county, or there may be several commissioners. This body is referred to as the "county commission" or the "board of county commissioners." The county commission is responsible for the same functions as the mayor's office of an incorporated municipality but performs those duties county-wide, rather than within a municipality's town or city limits.
