Can joules be converted to watts?

Joules are a measurement of work, while watts are a measurement of power; because they measure different things, they cannot be converted directly. However, they can be used to describe one another; joules can be converted to watt times seconds, and watts can be converted to joules per second.

In physics, a joule as measure of work is equal to a force of 1 newton (1 kilogram being accelerated at 1 meter per second squared) moving 1 meter. One watt is equal to 1 joule of work being done during 1 second. This relationship is represented in the equation joules equals watts times seconds.
