KitchenAid stand mixers can be purchased directly through the website, Kitchenaid.com, or a retailer, such as Lowe's, Best Buy, Sears or Pacific. The dough hook of a KitchenAid stand mixer kneads bread, but the appliance does not bake it like a bread machine does.

As of 2015, KitchenAid does not manufacture bread machines. The torque of the KitchenAid dough hook will diminish the intensive labor from kneading dough by hand, while enabling the chef to have control over each step of the bread making process, unlike the automation a standard bread machine has.
