The Cathlapotle Plankhouse in Ridgefield, Washington, is a full-scale reconstruction of a traditional Chinook longhouse. There, the Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge offer workshops, demonstrations and lectures on Chinook culture and history from April to October.
The Chinook Indian Nation recommends the book "Chinookan Peoples of the Lower Columbia," edited by Robert T. Boyd, for anyone interested Chinook history and culture. The Chinook Indian Nation consists of six related tribes in northwestern Oregon and southwestern Washington. Historically, the Chinook people lived along the lower and middle Columbia river in Oregon and Washington, in timber longhouses up to 70 feet long.
