You can find free appliance pickups using the free pickup service finder at GetJunk.net or through the Fridge and Freezer Recycling link at ComEd.com. The pickup service at ComEd.com advertises free pickups of refrigerators and freezers plus a $35 reward for each working unit donated, as of 2015.

GetJunk.com allows searches of free appliance pickup services by state, county and individual city. Most services in the database offer free pickup, but users should contact each service to see if any items have a pickup fee.

ComEd.com's free service also offers pickup of working air conditioners, with a $10 reward for each working unit. Refrigerator and freezer pickups have a limit of two units per call. To reduce landfill usage, ComEd dismantles and recycles all appliances.
