Since black walnut trees are often sold as high-end lumber, any potential sellers could contact their local forester or logger to find a potential buyer. Black walnut trees are divided into two categories: lumber grade and veneer grade.

The veneer grade are worth more than the lumber grade but are also considerably less common. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, or MDC, a Grade A veneer tree with a diameter of 19 inches could be sold for $700-$800. Most buyers want to see the trees before buying them, so the MDC recommends having your trees marked before the buyer comes to examines the trees.
