The SSI disability contact number can be found on the official Social Security website, SSA.gov. As of August 2015, the general contact number is 1-800-772-1213. The TTY number for the hearing impaired is 1-800-325-0778. Both contact numbers are toll-free.

The SSI contact numbers offer automated services using pre-recorded information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The option to talk to a representative is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The SSA recommends calling after Tuesday when the wait time is reduced.

Through the automated service, a beneficiary can request a verification letter, a 1099 tax summary statement, Social Security and Medicare cards, the location of the nearest SSA office and the status of a claim. Informational messages inform the caller of payment dates, cost-of-living increases, directions on how to become a representative payee, and tax and fraud information.
