Lyrica can cause addiction for some patients, especially if they have a past history of drug and alcohol abuse. Since it can become addicting for some individuals, it's necessary to take the medication exactly as prescribed by the doctor to reduce the risk of addiction, according to WebMD.

Lyrica, also known as pregabalin, is an anti-convulsion prescription medication used for treating neuropathic pain from nerve damage. This medication works by decreasing the amount of pain signals sent by damaged nerves. The typical dosage for Lyrica is two to three times per day, but the proper dosing varies depending on the patient's response to the treatment and their medical history. Lyrica can cause a number of negative side effects, including dry mouth, vomiting, dizziness and difficulty concentrating.
