How can you find marriage license information?

Marriage licenses are issued by the county in which you reside, and are subject to the marriage licensing laws of the state in which you reside. Typically, a clerk's office within one of your county's government buildings, such as the courts building, specifically handles the issuance of marriage licenses.

Some states prohibit marriages or certain individuals due to their age or sex, and the people who are able to obtain a marriage license in one state may not be allowed to obtain a marriage license in another state. Some states do not recognize marriage licenses issued by a different state.
