Can men use monistat cream for yeast infections?

Men can use Monistat and other creams specified as "for vaginal use" for male yeast infections, notes Riverside. The same yeast that causes an infection in females can cause an infection in males.
Most over-the-counter antifungal treatments are marketed toward women as vaginal yeast infections are much more common than yeast infections in men, explains Riverside. To treat a male yeast infection, the individual applies the cream directly to the affected area twice daily for about a week. If symptoms persist past a week or recur, it is important to see a doctor as this is a possible symptom of a more serious medical condition.
