Can mice see in the dark?

Mice have poor eyesight and do not see well in the dark or light. They are normally active at night but do not rely on vision; instead, they rely on their whiskers for guidance. Mice often bump into things when moving around their environment.

Mice can see motion from nearly all sides. Their eyes are set out from their heads allowing for a wide range of vision. Mice can detect movement from up to 45 feet away though they can only focus on objects within 1 to 2 feet. Their lack of eyesight is also offset by keen hearing, which can pick up a wide range of noise levels.
