Can rabbits see in the dark?

According to the University of Miami, rabbits see better in the dark than humans do, due to their eye structures. Their retinas have more rods than cones, which facilitates low-light vision.

Although rabbits can see at night, the images are not as sharp as humans see during the day. Rabbits also do not have very good color vision. They can discriminate between green and blue, but they are not aware of other colors. However, rabbits do have an ocular advantage. Because these animals are typically prey, their eyes are located on the sides of their heads, which allows them to look in almost any direction without turning their heads.
