Can you get free Microsoft Works programs online?

Consumers can no longer get the Microsoft Works software program online due to its discontinuation in 2007. The last version of this software was Works 9.0. Microsoft discounted the program in favor of its Office product.

Microsoft Works was the less expensive version of Microsoft Office. As an alternative replacement for Microsoft Works, Microsoft offered the Office 2010 Starter Edition, which was a limited version of Windows that gave users access to limited functions and programs. As of 2015, users can use Microsoft Office online for free in real time to complete various tasks including sharing, storing and creating presentations, spreadsheets and documents.
