Where can you find an online list of ICD-9 procedure codes?

Users can find an online list of ICD-9 procedure and diagnosis codes at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website at CMS.gov. The website provides both abbreviated and full code titles.

As of 2015, ICD-9 is over 30 years old and is outdated. ICD-9 does not accurately reflect advances in medical technology and is no longer useful for modern treatment, reporting and payment processes. On Oct. 1, 2015, anyone covered by the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act was required to use ICD-10 codes. Physicians, health care clearing houses and payers are HIPPA-covered entities and are required to convert to the new codes. ICD-10 includes greater detail within each code, giving more specific information about each diagnosis.
