CarsDirect alleges that Westlake Tires, along with three other companies, have their tires made from the Chinese-based Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company. Its main concern is the lack of safety features left out in order to cut costs. CarsDirect asserts that tires made by Westlake Tires lack gum strips used to prevent the steel inside the tire from separating and damaging the rubber walls. Most reviews on Amazon.com praise the price of the tires, however.
