How can you find out who built my house?

In order to identify who built a house, determine the era in which the house was built based on its architecture, ask the city inspector's office to find the building permit of the home or find county records of the beginning of the property in a register of deeds department. Subcontractors like plumbers may also have records of who built a home.
The first place to check for records of who built a home is to contact the local government offices. If there is no information here, attempt to determine a range of years that the home must have been built, and trace the home title back to previous owners to find records of what company may have built the home or surrounding homes with similar architecture.
