Where can you find out the calorie content of restaurant foods?

Websites such as Calorie Count and Nutritionix, which are dedicated to tracking calorie consumption, provide estimates of the calorie content of many dishes at popular restaurants. Furthermore, as of 2015, larger chain restaurants are required to list the calorie content of foods on their menus.

The new regulations related to menu labeling come from the USDA. Though several states had menu labeling regulations in place as early as 2008, the new regulations come from the federal government and apply to most larger chain restaurants around the country. Both restaurants that have menu boards, as well as those with paper menus, are required to list the calorie content of each item they serve.
