Can the ovaries be felt after menopause?

A woman's ovaries are unable to be felt after menopause, according to Cancer Support Community. Due to the hormonal changes that occur at that time, the ovaries shrink to roughly half their normal size.
While healthy ovaries are felt by way of physical examination during a woman's reproductive years, menopause causes a significant decrease in estrogen and the other reproductive hormones normally produced by the glands, Cancer Support Community explains. Though it is possible for women who are using prescription drugs for hormone replacement therapy to maintain a premenopausal ovary size, it is most common to see a reduction in ovary volume.
