Who can help in paying your bills?

Those having trouble paying bills may find assistance from a number of sources, including city and state government assistance programs or charity organizations. Funding and availability of assistance programs vary by location, however.

While government assistance programs are generally funded by the state or federal governments, charity organizations often rely on donations to operate. These organizations can often help with rent and food, as well as utility bills. The elderly or disabled may be able to find assistance though specific programs not available to others. Churches and other community action agencies are sometimes able to help those in need as well.
