How can a person re-ink typewriter ribbons?
By Forinfos - 14/10/2025 - 0 comments
In order to re-ink a typewriter ribbon, simply apply a few drops of stamp pad ink to the ribbon spool. It is important not to use too much ink, since this will cause the type to be blurry and smudge on the paper.
Old typewriters used inked spools of ribbon to type words. When the ribbon is dry, a few simple steps will bring it back to life.
Step 1: Remove the spool from the typewriter
Most ribbon spools simply snap into the front of the typewriter. Carefully remove the spool.
Step 2: Apply the ink
Apply a few drops of stamp pad ink to the ribbon spool, coating the outside of the ribbon. The ink will soak in and coat the ribbon. Replace the spool.
