If wet brain is treated quickly, a person can recover. In order to be cured, the person must stop drinking alcohol completely.
Wet brain, also called Weirncke-Korsakoff syndrome, is caused by a lack of the vitamin B1. Alcoholics usually get this disease after abusing alcohol for a long period of time.
The symptoms include lack of coordination, confusion, trouble swallowing and loss of memory. Injections of Thiamine may be able to reverse some of the damage drinking has done on the brain. The only real cure for the disease, however, is to cut off all alcohol consumption. If the disease is not treated quickly, most cases end in death.
