Andrew Wyeth is an American painter who was active mostly during the mid-20th century. He painted primarily in the realist style, with a strong regionalist influence. One of his best known works is "Christina's World," which was painted in 1948. The painting depicts his neighbor, Christina Olson, a young crippled woman, sprawled on the grass in a field with a small farmhouse in the distance. Wyeth died in 2009 at the age of 91.
