Metal tortilla presses are a relatively low-cost and widely available kitchen tool. Less common but equally effective are wooden presses, although neither cooks the dough. Both metal and wooden versions can be used to flatten dough balls for tortillas and other flat breads, like chapatti bread. More expensive electric versions are available from the same retailers that contain heaters to cook to tortilla, in addition to pressing the dough.
