What can you put under your nose so you do not smell something?

Vick's VapoRub can be applied topically near the nose to block other odors. This method of odor-avoidance is often referenced in crime shows and medical dramas, but it is also a practical way to deal with overwhelming pet odors.
Vick's isn't the only substance that can be used to help prevent you from smelling other odors; essential oils can be held under your nose, but not against the skin, to block offensive smells.
Always use caution when applying Vick's creams or any other substance to your skin, especially near your nose and eyes, as the skin there is extremely sensitive. If in doubt, read the label and contact your doctor to confirm whether a substance is safe to use.
