Can a quiz determine if you have depression?

A depression quiz is able to show that an individual has symptoms associated with depression, according to the UT Southwestern Medical Center. A high score on the quiz makes it likely that the person has the medical condition. However, a quiz alone does not determine an actual diagnosis.

A typical depression quiz asks about patterns in falling asleep, sleeping through the night, waking up and sleeping too much, explains the UT Southwestern Medical Center. Increased and decreased appetite and weight gain or loss are investigated. There are questions about feelings of sadness, ability to concentrate and decision making. Interest and energy levels are evaluated. Self-image is also measured.
