Can you reface Formica cabinets?

Reface Formica cabinets by first removing the cabinet hardware and placing the doors on a flat, stable surface. Using rubber gloves and goggles, apply lacquer solvent at the laminate edges, and then use a heat gun to activate it. Use a putty knife to pry the laminate from the cabinet.

Repeat this process a little bit at a time until the laminate has been completely removed. Use a sander to remove any residue, and smooth the cabinet surface. Use a degreaser to allow contact cement to adhere to the surface. Smooth a thin layer of contact cement onto the surface using a trowel before placing a new laminate onto the cement. Sand the edges, and apply a sealant to protect against moisture.
