How can you repair a fiberglass shower floor?

Hardening resin, fiberglass cloth, sandpaper and a putty knife is all that is required to repair a fiberglass shower floor. Fiberglass repair kits come with everything required to repair the floor, making the job much easier.
In order to repair the fiberglass shower floor, purchase a fiberglass repair kit or gather the necessary materials and follow the steps below.
- Prepare the area
- Sand down the cracks
- Cut fiberglass cloth
- Mix the hardening resin
- Cover the crack
- Sand the patches
Clean the area that needs to be repaired, and safeguard surrounding items, such as the floor, wall and other fixtures, with throw cloths to avoid damage from the repair resin.
Using coarse sandpaper, sand down the crack and the area surrounding it until smooth.
Cut a piece of fiberglass cloth that is slightly smaller than the crack. Cut two more pieces of cloth that are smaller than the first.
Prepare the appropriate amount of hardening resin by following the instructions on the jar.
Dip the patches in the resin, and apply the smallest two first, then layer them with the larger one. Once the cloths are in place, do not touch them. Allow 8 hours to thoroughly dry.
Rub the patches with sandpaper, and then use a damp cloth to wipe them down. Spread marine plastic filler onto the surface with a putty knife. and apply a layer of gel coat with a paint roller. Leave it to cure for 24 hours before going back over it with sandpaper and a wet cloth until smooth.
