Research studies on the potential benefits of plant-derived cannabinoids in treating cancer pain are also provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, with an additional study discussing cannabis extract treatment for terminal acute lymphoblastic anemia.
As of 2015, cannabis-based products like Sativex® are actively studied in the U.S. in treating chronic pain from cancer and multiple sclerosis and already approved in Canada and Europe, according to Mayo Clinic.
