Where can you find the sales tax rate for San Francisco?

The California State Board of Equalization publishes the sales tax and use rates for all California cities, including San Francisco, on its official website, BOE.ca.gov. The website organizes rates by city in an alphabetized format for ease of use.

To find rates, visitors click on Taxes & Fees from the tabs on the top of the home page, and then scroll down to the Sales & Use Tax link in the middle of the page. From there, they must click on Find a Tax Rate and then Tax Rates by County and City. This pulls up the Sales and Use Tax Rates list, which is in PDF format. The table shows the tax rate for San Francisco County at 8.75 percent, as of 2015.
