According to an article in "The International Business Times," Palash Ghosh states that Muslims cannot eat pork because it is prohibited in the Holy Quran. The Quran states that pigs are unclean, and even touching them is prohibited.
Pigs are considered unclean because they eat anything, and are bad for moral health because they are naturally lazy. The Quran also states that those who eat pork out of necessity, and not out of disobedience or in excess, will be forgiven by a merciful Allah. For Muslims, not eating pork is also a step toward good hygiene practice and attaining a pure soul, according to an article published in "The Muslim World League Journal."
