Eating pork is prohibited for Muslims by the Qu’ran. In Al-Qu’ran 5:3, dead meat, swine and blood are strictly forbidden. Muslims can only eat meat that is killed in a certain manner.
The meat that is consumed by Muslims must be from an animal that is prayed over while it is killed. Pork is not only forbidden for religious reasons but also because of concern that eating pork can lead to illness. For instance, pork has excess fat, which can lead to hypertension and heart-related illnesses.
Kosher meat may also be eaten by some Muslims. Kosher meat is prepared according to Jewish dietary restrictions.
